Short Stories by Jesus Class

Join us for a class on Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi from April 11 to May 16 at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall or via Zoom. Jesus was a skilled storyteller and perceptive teacher who used parables from everyday life to effectively convey his message and meaning. Life in first-century Palestine was very different from our world today, and many traditional interpretations of Jesus’ stories ignore this disparity and have often allowed anti-Semitism and misogyny to color their perspectives. Amy-Jill Levine, Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University, offers a fresh, timely reinterpretation of Jesus’ narratives.

First Class

First Class

This class studies the Bible by concentrating on specific books. Their goal is to better understand the meaning of scripture as it was written and how it applies to us today. They use a variety of resource materials and endeavor to conduct the class as a “small group” caring for each other in addition to studying together.

Covenant Group Leaders

Covenant Groups

Covenant Groups are small groups with 6-12 participants meeting on a regular basis for a time of fellowship and in-depth Bible study. The purpose is to provide a healthy, authentic environment where people can grow spiritually and relationally- both in our relationship with God and with our fellow believers.

We begin new Covenant Small Groups periodically. If you are interested in learning more, contact Andrea Paschal. Also learn more at CovenantBibleStudy.com.
