While we will need adult and youth volunteers – we do not want to keep parents from attending the Stewards of Children program. Please talk with Cathy or Allison about this. Middle school youth will have a full day as well – first playing with (watching over) children’s water sports, playing in the water themselves and dinner and a movie. Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, and motivates them to courageous action. The Stewards of Children program is designed for organizations that serve children and youth, and any/all adults interested in protecting children. For more information go to www.darkness2light.org/prevention, look over the introduction pages at Room 4, or chat with Nina Dorman. Christian Education and Youth committees, staff persons Cathy Belles, Allison Shearouse and Cheryl Kelley pray that this program will be a starting point for review and revision of the church’s policies for prevention of any abuse of our children, youth, or adults. We'll begin "summer choir" on May 28 from 5:45-6:15 in Room 7. What a great time to give choir a try--we'd love to welcome new singers! They can sing with us just for the summer, or stay with us throughout the year. The children's choir is for both boys and girls, and the ideal age range is 4-9 years. Questions? Please contact Lorraine.
Nursery – a Ministry of the Whole Congregation I have been concerned that the church does not have any members present in the nursery on Sunday mornings. While we have excellent paid workers (Joanna and Devan), I believe that it is necessary for us to have members present as well to both be a back-up on those mornings when the kids exceed the number of hands and laps and to be a link to the membership for when visitors drop off and pick up their children. We are looking for people to rock babies, play, and be able to supply yet another friendly face to the children and to their parents. It is also an excellent way to get to know the new children in the church! My hope is that we will have enough folks volunteer so that you only have to do it once every 3-4 months during the 11:00 service. Please let Cathy Belles know if you will join us in this renewed venture of the church. Kelley Perkins Brown Cathy Belles to volunteer today! 648-2662 OR cathyb@aikenpresbyterian.org
