History of Opus 3028 Opus 3028 was constructed by the Casavant Frères organ company for the new Sanctuary in 1969. Tonal design was by Lawrence Phelps, of Casavant, and Dr. Richard Peek served as the organ consultant. Randy Searle, who also served on the 1998-9 Organ Renovation Committee, was Chairperson of the 1969 Organ Committee. As a congregation, we were very fortunate to begin our worship life in this building with such a fine instrument. Due to the normal wear of weekly use, certain mechanical parts of the organ were in need of replacement and updating, as well as a desire to change the character and style of the sound from German Neo-Baroque to American Classic. This tonal change has allowed the organ to play all periods of music convincingly, and better serve as an accompanying instrument for choirs and congregation. The renovation was carried out by Casavant Frères and Walker Technical Company, under the guidance of the committee.
