Grade 2 - 5 Level One is for second and third grade children. Level One Basic is based on the Gospel of Mark with basic memorization. Level One Advanced is for third grade children. It is based on the Gospel of Matthew, with the same memorizations as Basic level. In this manner, they will build on what they learned last year. Level Two is for fourth and fifth grade children. Level Two Basic is The Ten Greatest Events of the Bible, covering Creation to one of the Epistles, Thessalonians. There are questions to ponder and memorization. Level Two Advanced involves the C. S. Lewis book, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” You and your child may choose which one to participate in. Copies of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will be handed out in Sunday school and are in my office for those not in Sunday school this Sunday. Please use these as page numbers are listed in the reading sheets. Ø Below, you will see links to the reading sheets – they are easy to follow and should not take more than 20 minutes of reading per day. Ø During Sunday school, we will review the memorization portion. Using the bibles they received at the beginning of second grade, this program is designed to increase their comfort with reading the Bible and develops a daily reading habit. To make it easier to complete the reading, please send their Bibles to church every Sunday beginning Jan. 13. During the worship service, if they get bored they can do their reading! Ø When you have finished 1 page of the program, sign, date it and send it into Sunday school – each child has a folder. Ø The program will end March 30. The reward for completion is a very cool Christian T-shirt, chosen to suit that child. During the 11 o’clock service we will recognize those completing the program. Ø This is an entirely volunteer program – if you don’t have time or it is not suitable for your family, please do not feel pressured to participate. Several families who participated in previous years spoke about how much their children and family got out of the reading of the Bible. Cindy and Andy Ploeger and Cathy Belles will work with the children on memorization at the beginning of SS each week to help your children.
